Bumper Sticker

Published by d under What I'm Doin'

I read an article yesterday that suggested coming up with a bumper sticker slogan to answer the question “What do you do in your work?” in place of using the old elevator pitch. It is supposed to be more enticing to engage the person to inquire more about what you do and allow for modern day networking.

So here’s my first pass at my bumper sticker: “I help people communicate their message in a creative way”

Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions. Leave a comment.

LA Can’t Drive

Published by d under What I'm Doin'

A great idea for a site: http://www.lacantdrive.blogspot.com/. I wish there was video of these idiots for more amusement. Maybe version 2.0 will have that.

Vodka tonic

Published by d under What I'm Doin'

Not much to post, but I’m trying to stay consistent and write at least something once a week. No new projects completed, although we did initiate a new 65k project with a Tony Robbins-ish type client today.  One of those un-exciting projects that pays the bills (which you especially need when the exciting ones don’t).

Some interesting talks about other opportunities, but nothing I can share just yet. Just looking forward to ending the week as I sip my vodka tonic. I have a nice weekend planned with my family that includes a trip to the zoo, a nice lunch at The Clubhouse, watch the Chargers game and hopefully we can squeeze in the new Paul Haggis flick, In the Valley of Elah. You’ll have to check our family blog ‘What were doin’ to see what my beautiful wife Nicole posts about all that.

Fresh Start

Published by d under What I'm Doin'

Not much of a weekend. I (hopefully) finished a rudimentary website project for a friend: http://www.hh4law.com. Not much to show off, but there is no room for complaint since it was free!

hh4law

Disappointing end: I waited all week for the Chargers vs. Patriots match up only to see the Pats stomp all over the bolts. I’ll stick to watching the Halos win another division title with their magic number down to 6 with a half-month to go.

I got an early start this morning and made it into the office before 6:15, yes a.m., which is rare for me, anyone in our office, or for most in the industry for that matter. No particular reason other than I went to sleep early and woke up early, and instead of laying there thinking about work it just made more sense to come in and get a fresh start on the day and week.

Cheers to a new week: I’ve left some old habits behind lately with the intention of starting some new. I downloaded an audible version of ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’ (a book I bought several years ago and never got around to reading). Another self help book I may try next is ‘How to get things Done’ - a book about setting up systems for things that need to get done and allows you to free your mind of “stuff”. We’ll see how the first one goes.

NEXTFEST is done, Cheers to the weekend!

Published by d under What I'm Doin'

Ah, another week gone by. And it seems like a blur.

WIRE NEXTFEST

Today me and the rest of the JLOOP gang took a train ride to downtown LA for the WIRED NEXTFEST convention. I was reminded that I’m from the OC after my crass comments as we traveled through Compton and the likes. All kinds of crazy inventions and a peak into the future. The 30′ wide touch screen panel was a big hit and robots galore. Check out the photo gallery here.

We received a satisfying email from CBS today with approval to keep the kewlopolis site up. Whooh… The block airs tomorrow morning.

We got back to the office with about two hours left in the work day so we responded to some emails and squeezed in a quick one-game elimination pong tourney - I am proud to announce I have defeated my crown and am still the JLOOP Pong champion for one more week.

Cheers to the weekend!

McLOVIN

Published by d under What I'm Doin'

dLOVINI couldn’t help myself when I came across the McLOVIN license from the movie Super Bad.

As usual, been crazy-busy at work with ridiculous timelines so I haven’t posted as often as I’d like. We launched a new website this Friday (that went into production on Thursday): KEWLopolis. It’s a portal site for the KEWLopolis morning cartoon block on CBS which airs Saturday mornings here in LA. It’s really only half done with 3 more show pages to add on Monday and 2 more when the new fall lineup drops.

After the KEWLopolis launch we hosted a JLOOP Open Studio party with great eats from George’s Greek Cafe, a keg o’ beer from Belmont Shores Brewing Company and plenty of other great cocktails and treats from a mass Costco run. Thanks to all our friends and clients for stopping by to eat, drink and mingle with us.

Coming up: we should have something to show for ConduitDevelopment, a year in the making and hopefully we will launch our online ordering site for Red Loft Studios before my next post.
